London: The Republic of Balochistan has announced plans to mark August 11 as Balochistan Independence Day, calling on Baloch communities worldwide to celebrate the occasion with what it described as a display of national unity.

In a statement released on X on August 3, the organisation urged supporters to hoist the flag it identifies as that of an independent Balochistan at homes, markets, educational institutions and public places, while encouraging younger generations to learn about the significance it attributes to the date.

The statement reiterates the group’s longstanding political position that Balochistan became independent on August 11, 1947, before what it describes as its subsequent incorporation into Pakistan in 1948. It alleges that Pakistan’s policies have contributed to regional instability, terrorism, political unrest and economic challenges, while also referencing historical events in Kashmir, the former East Pakistan, Afghanistan and Balochistan to support its claims.

The organisation further appealed to the international community to recognise what it describes as Balochistan’s sovereignty, asserting that such recognition would contribute to long-term peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan has consistently rejected calls for Baloch independence, maintaining that Balochistan is an integral part of Pakistan. The country’s authorities have repeatedly described separatist organisations operating in the province as militant groups and have opposed international recognition of any alternative political entity.
