Pakistan’s worsening security crisis was laid bare once again after a paramilitary soldier was shot dead by armed assailants while visiting his home for the Eid holidays in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The killing marks the third targeted attack on security personnel in just five days, underscoring the persistent failure to curb militant violence in the troubled region.
International Desk: A member of Pakistan’s paramilitary forces was gunned down on Monday by unidentified attackers in the Kulachi Mor area of Dera Ismail Khan district, according to police. The soldier had returned home to celebrate Eid when he was targeted and killed before the assailants fled the scene.
The latest attack highlights the deteriorating security environment in north-western Pakistan, where militants continue to strike despite repeated counter-terrorism operations and official claims of progress. Police confirmed that an investigation has been launched and a search operation is underway to trace those responsible.
Dera Ismail Khan, particularly the Kulachi region, has become a recurring flashpoint for targeted attacks on security personnel. The repeated killings have raised serious questions about the effectiveness of Pakistan’s security apparatus and its ability to protect even its own uniformed personnel.
Despite ongoing intelligence-based operations, militant networks continue to demonstrate their reach and operational capability, exposing the fragile security situation that persists across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
