International Desk: Fresh tensions have emerged in the region following reports that Pakistani forces carried out mortar shelling and strikes in Afghanistan’s Kunar province on Tuesday. According to initial accounts from Afghan media, at least three civilians were killed and more than 40 others injured in the incident.
Separately, sources in Balochistan have alleged that Pakistani military operations resulted in the deaths of five children after residential areas were reportedly targeted. These claims could not be independently verified at the time of reporting.
Statements attributed to representatives in Balochistan condemned the actions as unprovoked and described them as violations of territorial integrity. They asserted the right to defend their population and land against what they termed external aggression.
The developments highlight escalating tensions across the Afghanistan–Pakistan border region, with concerns mounting over civilian safety and the potential for further instability. No official response from Pakistani authorities was immediately available.
