London: Baloch political activist Mir Yar Baloch has alleged that coordinated online reporting campaigns linked to Pakistan’s security establishment are being used to suppress voices advocating for Balochistan, claiming that his social media accounts have faced sustained attempts at suspension over the past year.

In a statement, Baloch urged supporters to follow a backup account on X, alleging that organized cyber networks are targeting activists, journalists and human rights defenders to prevent information about conditions in Balochistan from reaching an international audience.

The statement claims that independent journalism in Balochistan operates under severe restrictions, alleging that attempts to establish media outlets in the Balochi language have been met with intimidation, enforced disappearances, arrests and violence. It further alleges that internet restrictions and surveillance have left social media as one of the few remaining platforms for Baloch voices.

Baloch also accused Pakistan’s authorities of using mass-reporting tactics on global social media platforms to silence dissent, calling on technology companies, including X, Facebook and Instagram, to review whether coordinated reporting campaigns are influencing content moderation decisions.

The statement further alleges widespread security operations, mass arrests and human rights violations in Balochistan, urging the international community, the United Nations and global human rights organisations to closely examine the situation. It also criticises Pakistan’s media regulatory framework and claims that digital censorship has intensified with advanced surveillance systems.
