A prominent Baloch nationalist voice has called on the international community to adopt a “Minus Pakistan Formula,” arguing that direct engagement with an independent Balochistan is essential for regional peace, stability and economic development.

In a statement issued on June 6, Mir Yar Baloch, representing Republic of Balochistan, alleged that Pakistan has relied on Balochistan’s strategic geography, ports and natural resources for decades while using them to secure international partnerships and investments.

The statement contended that major global powers, including the United States and China, have accessed key infrastructure, energy resources and mineral wealth in the region through Pakistan, despite what Baloch nationalists describe as Balochistan’s distinct political identity.

Advocating recognition of Balochistan’s independence, Mir Yar Baloch argued that sustainable development and long-term peace in the region can only be achieved through political legitimacy and local ownership of resources. He urged world powers to engage directly with Baloch leadership and support what he termed the “Minus Pakistan Formula.”

The statement further claimed that direct international cooperation with Balochistan would foster regional stability and economic progress, while criticizing Pakistan’s policies in the region. It also reiterated the commitment of Baloch nationalist groups to pursue their political objectives through what they describe as legitimate means.

Pakistan has consistently rejected calls for Baloch independence and maintains that Balochistan is an integral part of the country. The issue remains a subject of long-standing political dispute and security concerns in the region.
