New Delhi: Diplomats from 24 Latin American and Caribbean nations have confirmed their participation in the Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav (BVM) 2026, a major trade and business exhibition scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from August 12 to 15.
The announcement came during a three-hour interaction hosted by BJP MP and Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal with Heads of Missions from the Latin American and Caribbean region. The event was coordinated by Dr. Vijay Jolly, Strategic Advisor to Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav.
The initiative was presented as a step towards strengthening India’s global trade outreach in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India, Make for India” vision. The trade fair is being jointly organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) under the leadership of Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and CAIT.
Uruguay’s Ambassador Alberto A. Guani presided over the meeting, while BVM CEO Vikrant Abrol showcased the upcoming event through a presentation. All India Film Producers Guild of India CEO Nitin Tej Ahuja also addressed the gathering, highlighting opportunities in India’s film industry.
Ambassadors, High Commissioners and diplomats from 18 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, Venezuela, Jamaica, Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago, among others, presented investment and trade prospects from their respective nations and pledged participation in the four-day event. The remaining six countries also confirmed their attendance.
During the interaction, Paraguayan Ambassador Fleming R. Duarte Ramos was felicitated on his birthday. Khandelwal urged the diplomatic community to encourage government agencies, businesses, and students from their respective countries based in India to actively participate in the international trade exposition.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by former IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, followed by the presentation of commemorative gift hampers to the participating dignitaries.
