LUMUT, Malaysia: Indian Navy warship INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, on September 9 to participate in the 4th edition of bilateral maritime exercise Samudra Laksamana with the Royal Malaysian Navy.

The visit is part of the Indian Navy’s operational deployment and marks another significant step in strengthening the maritime partnership between India and Malaysia.

INS Mysore and its crew received a warm welcome from personnel of the Royal Malaysian Navy and officials from the High Commission of India in Malaysia.

Exercise Samudra Laksamana features a series of professional engagements both in harbour and at sea. These include cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting engagements, providing personnel of the two navies an opportunity to exchange professional experiences and strengthen interoperability.

The exercise is also aimed at fostering greater mutual understanding and enhancing professional cooperation between the Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy.

The latest engagement builds on the momentum generated through recent bilateral interactions, including the 12th India-Malaysia Sub Committee Meeting held on July 1, 2026.

The Indian Navy said the visit underscores the strong and enduring maritime partnership between the two countries and reflects the expanding scope of cooperation between their naval forces.

The engagement is aligned with the Government of India’s MAHASAGAR vision and the ASEAN–India Year of Maritime Cooperation 2026, further highlighting India’s growing maritime engagement with the region.

The exercise is expected to provide further opportunities for the two navies to deepen operational understanding, strengthen professional exchanges and advance bilateral maritime cooperation.
