Bangkok: The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, under the Embassy of India, Bangkok, in collaboration with Suro Bharati Sangeet Kala Kendra, the Indian Studies Center, and the Institute of Asian Studies at Chulalongkorn University, organised an “International Art Exhibition” on the theme Indian Gods & Goddesses at the Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University from March 30–31.
The exhibition was inaugurated on March 30, with Associate Professor Dr. Suradech Chotiudompant, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Chulalongkorn University, delivering the opening remarks. He underscored the cultural and artistic significance of Indian deities and their enduring influence across Asian traditions.
Mr. Arijit Chakraborty, President of the Executive Committee of Suro Bharati Sangeet Kala Kendra, and Ms. Anita Bose, an author, artist and researcher, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of artistic representations of Indian Gods and Goddesses.
Academic sessions on “Hindu Deities in Thai Paintings” were conducted by Dr. Jiaranai Vithidkul and Achan Kittipong Boonkerd from the Faculty of Arts, who elaborated on the historical and cultural linkages between Indian and Thai artistic traditions.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, scholars, artists, and members of the Indian diaspora in Thailand, reflecting the deep-rooted cultural ties between the two nations.
