Jaipur: A spiritual delegation from Ajmer Dargah Sharif on Tuesday met Rajasthan Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas at the Jaipur Secretariat, holding discussions on service to pilgrims, interfaith harmony and collaborative nation-building.
The delegation, comprising spiritual elders and youth from the Khuddam-e-Khawaja Gharib Nawaz community, represented the hereditary Gaddi-Nashins and Syedzadghan (Khuddam) — custodians of the nearly 800-year-old spiritual legacy of Ajmer Sharif. The meeting was marked by cordiality and a constructive exchange of views, with both sides emphasising mutual respect and cooperation.
During the interaction, the delegation submitted a formal representation highlighting the importance of strengthening collaboration between the Ajmer Sharif Dargah and the state administration. They stressed Ajmer Sharif’s global stature as a centre of peace, inclusivity and compassion, drawing millions of pilgrims annually from India and abroad, cutting across religious and national boundaries.
Key issues discussed included improving pilgrim facilities, preserving the sanctity of traditional spiritual practices, and integrating Ajmer Sharif into broader cultural and spiritual diplomacy initiatives as part of India’s soft-power outreach. The delegation also underscored the need for administrative processes that respect long-established customs and traditional khidmat systems associated with the Dargah.
Reaffirming their commitment to cooperative decision-making, the members emphasised that safeguarding heritage, ensuring pilgrim welfare and promoting social harmony must go hand in hand. The Chief Secretary, in turn, assured a positive and collaborative approach from the state administration.
Both sides expressed a shared resolve to work together in the spirit of “service above self,” reflecting Rajasthan’s and India’s civilisational ethos of unity in diversity and compassionate governance.
The delegation included Haji Syed Mehtab Niyazi, Haji Syed Salman Chishty, Syed Zahoor Baba Chishty, Syed Mehraj Chishty, Syed Afshan Chishty, Syed Mehboob Nawaz Chishty, Syed Danish Ali, Syed Noor Chishty, Syed Nadeem Chishty, Syed Zeeshan Niyazi and Syed Shahnawaz Chishty.
