New Delhi: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta has called for strict and time-bound action on observations made by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), stressing that every rupee of public money must be utilised for its intended purpose.

Addressing the House, Gupta said the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has been continuously examining CAG reports that were not presented before the Delhi Assembly during the tenure of previous governments.

The Speaker said the PAC has now submitted its reports on the CAG reports presented before the House last year. He expressed confidence that the examination of the CAG reports presented this year would also be completed by the end of 2026.

Gupta said he has directed the Legislative Assembly Secretariat to forward the reports to the concerned departments so that their Action Taken Notes (ATNs) could be received at the earliest.

Emphasising the significance of the CAG observations, Gupta said the findings were based on the examination of specific cases and should therefore be treated by departments as a warning to prevent similar shortcomings in the future.

He urged government departments to take corrective measures and ensure that limited public resources are utilised in the most effective manner.

“These reports are not merely an account of deficiencies, but also point the way towards improvement,” Gupta said, urging all departments to take the findings with the utmost seriousness.

He called upon departments to submit their Action Taken Notes within a stipulated timeframe and undertake necessary corrective measures to ensure that every single rupee of public money is spent only for its intended purpose.
