New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra congratulated Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on the launch of the Delhi Laxmi Yojana, describing it as a landmark initiative that sets a new benchmark in women’s welfare.
Malhotra said the Delhi BJP government had implemented a large-scale women-focused welfare scheme in less than 20 months of its tenure while providing ₹2,500 per month, which he described as the highest monthly assistance under such a scheme in the country.
He said the Rekha Gupta government had already won the confidence of Delhi’s women by implementing the free LPG cylinder scheme during festivals in its first year, followed by the launch of the Delhi Laxmi Yojana in its second year.
Malhotra acknowledged that the scheme had initially been introduced within a defined scope due to budgetary considerations. However, he said the government’s endeavour was to ensure that by January 1, 2029, every woman who wishes to avail herself of the Delhi Laxmi Yojana is able to receive its benefits.
He said the initiative reflected the Delhi BJP government’s commitment to expanding welfare support for women across the national capital.
