New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged the Centre to sanction ₹100 crore as first-phase assistance for the revamped PM-UDAY scheme, aimed at expediting the grant of property rights to residents of 1,511 unauthorised colonies in the national capital. In a letter to Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, she proposed that the funds be released under the Urban Development Fund to support a technology-driven implementation framework.

The Chief Minister said the revised PM-UDAY regulations notified on April 6, 2026, provide a fresh legal basis for regularising colonies on an “as-is-where-is” basis, thereby simplifying the process of securing ownership rights for lakhs of residents. The Delhi Revenue Department, designated as the nodal agency, will establish dedicated PM-UDAY cells in all 13 districts under the supervision of Additional District Magistrates and undertake extensive physical verification, digital mapping and updation of land records.

Of the proposed allocation, ₹65 crore has been earmarked for the DRISHTI-based land survey and mapping system, ₹25 crore for setting up district and headquarters PM-UDAY cells, and ₹10 crore for public outreach initiatives, including workshops, help desks and single-window awareness camps. The Chief Minister emphasised that timely central support would enable the scheme to meet its 45-day service timeline and ensure faster, more transparent delivery of property rights to Delhi’s residents.
