London: Baloch leader and Free Balochistan Movement president Hyrbyair Marri has sharply criticised Mojtaba Khamenei over his recent call for Islamic unity, accusing Iran’s leadership of overlooking the plight of the Baloch and other communities under Iranian rule.

In a statement posted on his official X handle, Marri responded to Mojtaba Khamenei’s remarks opposing what he described as “hostile” Zionist designs and urging Muslim leaders and nations to unite.

Marri questioned the Iranian leadership’s appeal for Islamic unity, arguing that Tehran’s policies towards the Baloch contradict such calls. He accused the Iranian “Mullah regime” of mass lynchings, politically motivated cases and the continued displacement of Baloch people.

Marri further alleged that Iran was created through the occupation of territories inhabited by other Muslim communities, specifically referring to Al-Ahwaz, Kurdish areas and Balochistan.

Drawing a comparison between the experiences of Iranians and the Baloch, Marri said the Baloch had faced Iranian military action for decades. He claimed that while Iranians speak of resistance following six months of bombardment, the Baloch people have endured what he described as 98 years of bombardment and occupation.

“The Baloch people have resistance in their blood,” Marri asserted, portraying the community as continuing to resist what he termed Iranian occupation.

Marri’s remarks came in direct response to Mojtaba Khamenei’s statement and focused attention on Tehran’s domestic policies towards ethnic and regional minorities while challenging Iran’s broader appeal for Muslim unity.
