New Delhi: Delhi BJP President Shri Harsh Malhotra questioned Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal over what he described as “duplicity” in his conduct and politics, following Kejriwal’s visit to Vikaspuri.
Malhotra said there was no doubt that the unfortunate incident during the final moments of Minister Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh’s visit to Vikaspuri should not have occurred. However, he questioned the political response to the episode.
“Delhiites want to ask Arvind Kejriwal that Minister Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh, trusting Jarnail Singh as an elected MLA, had invited him for an inspection. However, the manner in which Jarnail Singh brought a crowd and created a ruckus during the inspection led to an unfortunate incident,” Malhotra said.
He further asked why Kejriwal remained silent when senior officials and an MP were assaulted after being called to his official residence.
Malhotra also raised questions over the reported handling of a student protest at Lovely Professional University in Punjab. He said that while AAP leaders in Delhi were raising the issue of the Vikaspuri incident, Punjab Police was allegedly forcibly suppressing a protest by students at the university.
“Kejriwal must answer: Yesterday, when AAP leaders in Delhi were creating a ruckus over an unfortunate incident caused by deliberate abusive language and an attempt to vitiate the atmosphere, at the very same time, Arvind Kejriwal’s own Punjab Police was forcibly suppressing the protest by students of Lovely Professional University in Punjab. Why is he silent on that?” Malhotra asked.
The Delhi BJP President said Kejriwal’s visit to Vikaspuri and the political statements made there had left people in Delhi questioning his response to the two incidents.
