New Delhi: Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker and Rohini MLA Shri Vijender Gupta said government services must reach citizens without barriers as he inaugurated a ‘Seva Setu Camp’ at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 8, Rohini, under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ on Saturday.
“Good governance is ultimately measured by how easily a citizen can access a public service. Schemes acquire real meaning only when information, guidance and assistance reach people without unnecessary barriers,” Gupta said.
The camp, organised on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, has been designed as a single-point facilitation platform where citizens can receive information, guidance and assistance related to various Delhi Government services and welfare schemes. North-West Delhi District Magistrate Ms Soumya Saurabh, IAS, was also present.
Gupta interacted with officials deployed at the camp, reviewed the arrangements and sought details about the assistance being provided to citizens. He stressed that effective public service delivery requires more than merely announcing schemes and must include clear communication, accessible systems and timely support to ensure that intended beneficiaries can avail themselves of government initiatives.
A wide range of departments and public agencies participated in the camp, including the Health Department, BSES, TPDDL, Food and Supplies Department, Revenue Department, Delhi Transport Corporation, Women and Child Development Department, Social Welfare Department, Delhi Police, Education Department, Labour Department, DDB, Delhi Jal Board, SC & ST Department and Delhi Development Authority.
Gupta also interacted with citizens visiting the camp and heard about their experiences in accessing the services. He said bringing multiple public agencies together at the neighbourhood level could reduce the need for citizens to navigate different offices and make government services more accessible, coordinated and responsive.
