New Delhi: A touching display of humility and camaraderie between India’s 15th Vice President, Shri Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, and senior BJP leader Dr. Vijay Jolly became the defining moment of the launch of “RSS@100: A Century of Service, Unity & Sacrifice” at the Vice President Sadan in New Delhi.
Authored by Shyam Jaju and Anupam Trivedi, the book chronicles the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) 100-year journey, highlighting its contributions to social reform, national service and nation-building. The event was presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and attended by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta along with several distinguished guests.
The emotional highlight unfolded during the post-event high tea when Vice President Radhakrishnan warmly recognised Dr. Vijay Jolly in the presence of senior dignitaries. Greeting him with, “How are you, Jolly ji?”, the Vice President fondly recalled their long association in the BJP’s NRI Cell.
In a gesture reflecting humility and respect for long-standing relationships, the Vice President reportedly remarked, “When Jolly ji was the BJP Global NRI Chief, I served in the BJP NRI Cell from Tamil Nadu in his team. So Jolly ji is my senior.”
Deeply moved by the acknowledgment, Dr. Vijay Jolly praised the Vice President’s simplicity and graciousness, saying such words from the country’s second-highest constitutional office reflected exceptional humility. He described the interaction as a moment that revived cherished memories and filled his eyes with tears of joy.
The event also showcased the newly built Vice President Sadan, which Dr. Jolly described as “simple yet majestic,” while appreciating the seamless organisation by Shyam Jaju and his team.
According to the organisers, the book seeks to familiarise readers with the RSS’s century-long contribution to social service, national integration and nation-building, presenting its historical journey and public service initiatives over the last 100 years.
