NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to declare the 8.8-km Mandi Road in South Delhi a National Highway and place its development under the National Highways Authority of India. The arterial stretch links NH-148A near Chhatarpur Metro Station with the Gurugram–Faridabad Road at the Delhi–Haryana border, serving as a crucial connector between Delhi and the economic hubs of Gurugram and Faridabad.
In her communication, the Chief Minister highlighted the road’s strategic importance, growing traffic demand and direct connectivity to the national highway network. She also noted that UTTIPEC had endorsed the corridor’s widening and comprehensive development in 2023. Bringing Mandi Road under the NHAI, she said, would enable integrated planning, uniform engineering standards and timely upgrades, ultimately enhancing Delhi-NCR connectivity and providing a fresh impetus to regional economic growth.
