A major setback has hit the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) after a JF-17 Thunder fighter jet crashed near the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) in Kamra during a routine training mission. The incident has once again intensified scrutiny over the reliability and combat readiness of fighter aircraft developed with Chinese support.

Technical Failure Suspected Behind Crash

According to initial reports, the aircraft suffered a critical technical malfunction mid-flight, causing the pilot to lose control before the jet went down. Videos from the crash site showed dense black smoke rising from the wreckage, highlighting the severity of the impact.

Pilots Forced to Eject in Emergency

Moments before the crash, both pilots executed an emergency ejection to avoid certain death. While the manoeuvre saved their lives, both officers reportedly sustained serious injuries during landing and were immediately rushed for medical assistance. Rescue teams and local residents quickly reached the scene following the incident.

Questions Mount Over Chinese Defence Equipment

Although the jet crashed away from populated areas and no civilian casualties were reported, the incident has reignited concerns surrounding the dependability of the JF-17 programme. Repeated crashes and technical failures linked to these aircraft continue to raise doubts over the quality, durability, and operational reliability of Chinese-supplied military hardware used by Pakistan.
