Flights to Philadelphia International Airport were briefly grounded on Friday following a bomb threat that was quickly resolved without incident, news agency Reuters reported citing officials.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop advisory shortly after 7 p.m. local time (0000 GMT). About 30 minutes later, the FAA confirmed that the security concern had been cleared and normal operations resumed.
A police spokesperson said the temporary halt was due to a “situation requiring the assistance of the Philadelphia Police aboard a plane.” The aircraft has since been cleared for takeoff, and the ground stop lifted.
Earlier this month, several other US airports experienced similar bomb threat alerts that were ultimately resolved without incident. Operations at Reagan Washington National Airport were briefly halted in early November after a threat against a United Airlines plane; the FBI confirmed there was no danger.
On the same day, a Delta flight at LaGuardia International Airport was evacuated before takeoff following a bomb threat report.
