International Desk: The Republic of Balochistan has accused Pakistan’s military of deliberately targeting the economic foundations of Baloch society, describing the alleged destruction of agricultural land, orchards, grazing areas and livestock as an “act of economic war” against the Baloch nation.

In a statement dated September 1, 2026, the organisation alleged that Pakistan’s military is pursuing a policy aimed at economically weakening the Baloch population amid growing resistance over the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources.

The statement claimed that reports had emerged from several parts of Balochistan of grazing lands being burned, livestock allegedly being targeted by drones and military helicopters, and agricultural activity being damaged.

It further alleged that fruit orchards producing apples, pomegranates, dates, almonds, peaches and apricots were being destroyed by bulldozers in areas including Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Surab, Manchhar, Wadh, Panjgur and Turbat.

According to the Republic of Balochistan, such actions, if carried out with the intention of depriving civilians of their economic resources, would go beyond conventional military operations and amount to economic warfare and collective punishment.

The organisation said the alleged damage could have consequences extending beyond individual families, affecting local food systems, employment, livelihoods and economic self-sufficiency.

It also accused Pakistan’s military presence in Balochistan of posing a threat to the lives, property, businesses and economic security of civilians, while calling for the withdrawal of Pakistani forces from the region.

The Republic of Balochistan urged the international community, human rights organisations and relevant international institutions to conduct independent investigations into alleged damage to civilian agricultural land, orchards, grazing areas and livestock.

The organisation called for measures to safeguard what it described as the economic and human rights of Baloch civilians.

The allegations in the statement have not been independently verified. The claims cited above are those made by the Republic of Balochistan in its September 1 statement and the accompanying Truth Social post.
