LONDON: The Republic of Balochistan has issued a fresh declaration asserting its claim to sovereignty, describing Balochistan as the historic homeland of the Baloch people and rejecting Pakistan’s governance over the region.

In a statement released on 15 July 2026, the group claimed that the Baloch nation possesses the capability to independently manage its economic development, infrastructure, natural resources and foreign policy, while accusing Pakistan of exploiting the region’s mineral wealth and neglecting its development.

The statement further alleged that Pakistan’s military and political leadership had systematically diverted Balochistan’s resources while keeping the province underdeveloped. It claimed that the Baloch freedom movement had assumed responsibility for both the region’s security and future development.

The organisation also asserted that approximately 85% of Balochistan is under the control of Baloch forces and alleged that Pakistan’s military presence has been largely confined to cantonments, relying on aerial operations in contested areas. These claims could not be independently verified.

The declaration expressed solidarity with Pashtun groups as well as people in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, urging the international community to support what it described as their struggles against Pakistani rule.

The statement concluded with an appeal to India and Afghanistan to formally recognise the independence of the Republic of Balochistan, arguing that such recognition would contribute to long-term peace, stability and economic development in the region.
