Quetta: The National Democratic Party (NDP) has called for greater unity between the Baloch and Pashtun peoples, warning that efforts to create hostility between the two communities only serve policies of oppression and exploitation.
In a statement, the party said both nations share a history of colonial-era division and political marginalisation, and urged them to pursue their national and democratic rights through mutual cooperation, political awareness and peaceful democratic struggle.
The NDP argued that colonial boundaries drawn during British rule weakened the collective strength of the Baloch and Pashtun populations, enabling external powers to maintain control over the region and its resources. It said the legacy of those policies continues to shape present-day political realities.
The party also highlighted the historical resistance of Pashtun leaders against colonial rule and stressed that both communities have long histories of opposing domination and exploitation.
Accusing current authorities of fostering divisions for political purposes, the NDP said Baloch and Pashtun regions continue to face instability while genuine democratic representation remains elusive.
“The real interest of both nations lies in mutual unity, political consciousness and a joint struggle,” the party spokesperson said, adding that cooperation between the two communities is essential for achieving justice, equality and democratic empowerment.
The NDP urged Baloch and Pashtun communities to respect each other’s political struggles and work together to overcome historical and administrative inequalities.
