LONDON, July 8: Exiled Baloch leader and president of the Free Balochistan Movement, Hyrbyair Marri has condemned Tehran’s reported attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, describing them as a deliberate escalation threatening global trade and regional security. In a statement issued in London, Marri argued that years of Western engagement with Iran had failed to moderate its conduct and instead emboldened the Islamic Republic.
He further alleged that Tehran represses several ethnic communities within its borders and called on the international community to support self-determination movements in regions such as Balochistan, Kurdistan, Al-Ahwaz and South Azerbaijan, contending that their independence would end what he described as Iranian regional hegemony. The allegations and political proposals reflect Marri’s views and have not been independently verified.
