Marri, who has lived in exile for years, is described by supporters as a principled advocate for Baloch rights, known for his diplomatic outreach and his long-standing role in the separatist cause.
In the statement, activists highlight what they view as Marri’s integrity, moral clarity and commitment to an independent Balochistan, saying these qualities have earned him widespread respect among Baloch communities both inside the region and abroad. They credit him with fostering unity among disparate groups and providing a sense of direction for a movement that has long been fragmented by internal divisions and government pressure.
Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest province by land area but one of its poorest, has witnessed decades of insurgency, political unrest and heavy military presence. Baloch nationalist groups have accused the state of economic marginalization and human rights abuses, while Pakistan maintains that the insurgency is fueled by militant violence and foreign interference.
