New Delhi: Fresh claims circulating on social media have intensified attention on the security situation in Balochistan, with Baloch activists alleging that Pakistan’s administrative control over the region is weakening amid continued unrest.
According to a post shared on X, Baloch campaigners claimed that the “Republic of Balochistan” is expanding its influence across parts of the region and asserted that many senior Pakistani bureaucrats have relocated outside Balochistan due to deteriorating security conditions.
The post cited Pakistani Senator Dinesh Kumar as claiming that nearly 75% of officers posted in Balochistan are residing in Islamabad, while the remaining 25% are based in Karachi, rather than living within the province because of security concerns.
The X post further alleged that Pakistan’s military presence in Balochistan is primarily aimed at protecting strategic energy projects and resource interests rather than promoting regional development. It also claimed that Baloch resistance groups are intensifying their campaign against Pakistani security forces.
The assertions made in the social media post could not be independently verified, and Pakistani authorities had not issued any official response at the time of writing.
