International Desk: A social media post shared on Kargil Vijay Diwas has drawn attention after a Baloch activist extended greetings to India while sharply criticising Pakistan’s military establishment. The post described the 1999 Kargil conflict as a battle between the “terrorist mindset” of Pakistan’s General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and the Indian Army, rather than a conflict involving the people of Balochistan, Sindh or Pashtun regions.
The post alleged that Pakistan’s military abandoned its soldiers during the Kargil conflict to understate casualties and claimed a similar pattern continues in Balochistan. It further asserted that Baloch, Sindhi and Pashtun communities share centuries-old historical ties with India and advocated stronger political, economic and strategic engagement between New Delhi and these regions.
Calling for long-term cooperation in trade, technology and regional stability, the post urged India to deepen engagement with leaders representing Balochistan, Sindhudesh, Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), Gilgit-Baltistan and Pashtunistan. It also expressed support for what it described as the Baloch people’s struggle and emphasised investment in the next generation through education and public service.
