Former US Vice President Kamala Harris lashed out at President Trump over his $300 million White House ballroom plan during a government shutdown, accusing him of ignoring starving families losing Snap aid.

Former US Vice President Kamala Harris exploded on Jon Stewart’s podcast, blasting President Trump’s $300 million White House ballroom plan amid a government shutdown, accusing him of ignoring starving families losing Snap food aid benefits.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris unleashed an expletive-filled tirade against Donald Trump on Thursday, slamming his plan to build a lavish White House ballroom as outrageous amid a government shutdown that threatens food aid benefits for millions.

Appearing on Jon Stewart’s “The Weekly Show” podcast, Harris lost her composure after being asked whether Democrats could learn something from Trump’s take-no-prisoners governing style.

“Are you f–king kidding me?” Harris raged. “This guy wants to create a ballroom for his rich friends while completely turning a blind eye to the fact that babies are going to starve when the Snap benefits end in just hours from now. Come on!”

Her anger boiled over as she accused Trump of prioritising opulence over ordinary Americans struggling under the shutdown.

“I’m not going to be distracted by, ‘Oh, does the guy have a big f**king hammer?’ What about those babies?” Harris shouted.

Harris’s remarks were a direct response to reports that the Trump administration is demolishing part of the White House East Wing to make way for a 90,000-square-foot ballroom, estimated to cost $300 million. The project is part of the president’s plan to host large-scale diplomatic events and celebrate American culture.

“It’s important we not conflate disruption with destruction,” she said later in the interview. “There’s a difference between shaking up the system and burning it down while families go hungry.”

TRUMP’S $300 MILLION WHITE HOUSE BALLROOM

According to Trump, the White House requires a larger venue for official gatherings, arguing that the East Room, which accommodates about 200 guests, is inadequate. He has long criticised the tradition of hosting state dinners and major events under tents on the South Lawn.

The administration says the $300 million ballroom project will be entirely privately funded, with no taxpayer money involved. The White House has pledged to disclose the names of individuals and corporations contributing to the effort and even hosted some donors for a dinner in the East Room. However, the full list and breakdown of contributions has not yet been released.

Roughly $22 million of the funding reportedly comes from YouTube, a Google subsidiary, as part of a 2021 lawsuit settlement with Trump. Officials say the new ballroom is expected to be completed before the end of Trump’s term in January 2029.
