New Delhi: Delhi Industries, Food & Supplies and Environment, Forest & Wildlife Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has directed officials to strengthen industrial infrastructure, tighten pollution monitoring and expand green cover in Adarsh Nagar constituency.
Sirsa held an assembly-centric review meeting with Adarsh Nagar MLA Raj Kumar Bhatia, focusing on infrastructure, environmental protection, waste management and plantation initiatives. Senior officials from DSIIDC, the Forest Department and Food & Supplies Department, along with representatives associated with Rajasthan Udyog Nagar in Jahangirpuri, attended the meeting.
Reviewing ongoing road and storm-water drainage works at Rajasthan Udyog Nagar, Sirsa stressed that infrastructure projects must be durable, long-lasting and executed strictly according to approved designs and technical standards. He also called for proper auditing at both the design and execution stages, emphasising that public funds must be utilised without compromising quality.
The Minister directed officials to establish a regular mechanism for cleaning and maintaining storm-water drains. He also stressed that wastewater from industrial clusters must be regulated and connected to drainage systems only through scientifically designed arrangements, with suitable chambers at inflow and outlet points for inspection and monitoring.
On environmental protection, Sirsa directed concerned departments, including the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), to take strict action against polluting industries and unscientific waste-treatment practices. He specifically flagged the burning of wires as a source of serious air pollution and environmental damage and called for stronger monitoring of such violations.
“Delhi’s industrial growth cannot come at the cost of the environment,” Sirsa said, adding that open burning of wires and other unscientific waste-disposal practices would not be tolerated.
The meeting also reviewed plans to increase green cover in the constituency. The Forest Department and representatives of the local association will jointly survey available green-belt areas, following which plantation drives will be undertaken at suitable locations.
Sirsa emphasised that industrial development must advance alongside environmental improvement, quality infrastructure and efficient public services. He directed departments to coordinate with the local MLA and stakeholders for timely resolution of ground-level issues.
“Our approach is clear—better infrastructure, cleaner industries, stronger green cover and efficient public services must move together,” Sirsa said, stressing that assembly-centric reviews would help ensure tangible results for residents.
