Pankaj Nath, Assam , August 26: In a major push to inspire young minds, District Commissioner of Kamrup, Assam Deba Kumar Mishra, flagged off the exposure visit team for mentees under the flagship AROHAN Scheme (2026-27) on Wednesday. The ceremonial send-off took place at PWD (IB), Hajo Road, Amingaon. Running from August 26 to August 29, 2026, the four-day initiative is designed to offer career guidance, skill enhancement and motivational support to high-performing Class X students from across the district.

A total of 276 mentees, comprising Group A (98 boys and 40 girls) and Group B (138 girls), are embarking on this transformative journey as part of Batch-4. Addressing the students, DC Deba Kumar Mishra said that the exposure visit would be a great learning experience for them and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity. He said that the AROHAN Scheme would provide the students with valuable exposure and help them gain a broader perspective about various career opportunities. He expressed hope that the programme would contribute to shaping a bright and promising future for the students. Following the launch on Day 1, the students will visit the Guwahati Planetarium and Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan before settling in at IIT Guwahati, which will serve as their residential base. On Day 2, the mentees will immerse themselves in the worlds of modern science and medicine through interactive sessions and campus tours at premier institutes, including AIIMS Guwahati, IIT Guwahati, IIIT Bongora, and Tech City in Bongora. Day 3 will offer a mix of conservation, defense and culture, taking the cohort to the Assam State Zoo and Narangi Military Station for an exclusive artillery display and motivational briefing, capped off with a cultural evening at Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakhsetra. On the final day, the focus shifts to future career pathways, with students attending tailored counselling sessions at the Assam Administrative Staff College and exploring interactive exhibits at the National Science Centre. Organized under Samagra Shiksha, Kamrup, the program aims to ignite ambition and broaden horizons by connecting students directly with leading academic, scientific and administrative hubs. The flag-off ceremony was attended by Additional District Commissioner (Education) Geetashri Lachit, SDO (S) Debasish Borthakur, Inspector of Schools Tapan Kalita, accompanying teachers and key officials from the district education department.
