New Delhi: The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) celebrated Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi at its New Delhi office, bringing together members of the Muslim community and Commission officials to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad and reflect on his teachings of peace, compassion, equality and social responsibility.

Welcoming members of the Muslim community, NCM Joint Secretary Dr. AtyaNand highlighted the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad and the positive transformation he brought to society. He emphasised the continuing relevance of compassion, mutual respect, harmony and responsible conduct.

NCM Secretary Suchindra Misra underlined the Commission’s role in ensuring effective implementation of constitutional and statutory safeguards for minority communities. He stressed that social harmony and brotherhood are vital to the country’s development.

NCM Vice Chairperson S. Munawari Begum, in her address, highlighted the enduring lessons from the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammad. She emphasised values including the protection and empowerment of the girl child and said the teachings encourage members of the community to contribute positively to nation-building and fulfil their responsibilities as citizens.

Begum also reaffirmed the NCM’s commitment to promoting dialogue, inclusivity and equal participation of minority communities in the nation’s development.

Representatives of the Muslim community spoke about the Prophet’s message of peace, equality, compassion and service to humanity, stressing its relevance in contemporary society, including women’s empowerment initiatives such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.

The celebration concluded with prayers for the wellbeing of the nation and its citizens, with emphasis on national integration, brotherhood and social harmony.
