Pankaj Nath, Assam , August 24: The Kshetriya and Prantiy Ganita Mela–2026 organised by Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra at Shankardev Shishu Niketan and Devendra Chandra Prabha Vidya Niketan, Nalbari, Assam concluded successfully on Monday . The Mela was held from August 22. Speaking to the media at the office of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, at Zoo Road, Guwahati, Mukuteswar Goswami, Prachar Sanyojak of Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam, said that this year a total of 148 participants from nine Vibhags took part in various competitions. The participants were those who had secured first position at the Vibhag level from different Niketans and Sankuls. The Mela was inaugurated at 3:00 pm on August 22 by Jagannath Rajbongshi, General Secretary, Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam. Dr Jagadindra Ray Choudhury, Secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, addressed the gathering as the distinguished guest.
The inaugural session was conducted by Jayanta Kumar Sharma, Pradhanacharya, Nalbari Niketan, and Ashutosh Barman, Nirikshak, Nalbari Vibhag. Parmananda Deka, Prantiy Vedic Mathematics, explained the glorious tradition of Bharatiya mathematics.
Addressing the concluding ceremony, Deka highlighted the rich heritage of Bharatiya mathematics, referring to the Shulba Sutras, composed around 7,000 years ago, and the contributions of the great ancient mathematician Aryabhata, born in 476 CE. He also spoke about the 16 Sutras and 13 Up-Sutras of Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha, the exponent of Vedic Mathematics.
He said that Vidya Bharati has been working for the promotion and propagation of Vedic Mathematics since 1992. In Assam, Vedic Mathematics has been practised in Shankardev Shishu Niketans since 2001 and has also been incorporated into the textbooks. The various competitions—including Vedic Mathematics Prashna Manch, Ganita Prayog, Ganita Patra Vachan and Ganita Model—were evaluated with the cooperation of Vedic Mathematics expert Mahananda Das, Kshetra Pramukh Sanjit Kumar Ghosh, Prantiy Sanyojak Devendra Chandra Ray, and members of the Vedic Mathematics Toli—Kandarpa Das, Prafulla Das, Ranjan Rajkhowa and Hemanta Kumar. Former students Chakraborty and Hiranmoy Bhuyan also served as judges for the Ganita Model competition. A Mat-Vinimay programme was held on August 23 at 3:20 pm in the presence of Ajay Nag, Sangathan Mantri, Shishu Shiksha Samiti, Assam. The Samapan Samaroh was held at 5:30 pm in the presence of Dr Bhupesh Sharma, Sanghchalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and Pulak Sharma, Secretary, Nalbari District BJP. Prizes and Praman Patras were distributed among the participants and winners. Guwahati Vibhag was declared the Shreshtha Dal of the Kshetriya and Prantiy Ganita Mela–2026. Against Bongaigaon Vibhag’s total of 22 points, Guwahati Vibhag secured 27 points, winning positions in 9 out of 12 events.
It was also announced that the Ganita Mela–2027 will be organised at North Lakhimpur Niketan under Lakhimpur Vibhag . The Kshetriya and Prantiy Ganita Mela–2026 concluded successfully with the cooperation of the Niketan Parichalana Samiti, Acharya-Karmacharis and Matri Bharati.
