A district-wide Earthquake Preparedness Mock Drill was successfully conducted yesterday, across all seven Revenue Circles of Nagaon district in Assam under the initiative of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Nagaon. In coordination with the Disaster Management Teams of the respective Revenue Circles, the exercise was conducted at Mukti Joddha Birbal Kalindi Adarsha Vidyalaya under Kampur Revenue Circle, Adarsha Vidyalaya under Rupahi Revenue Circle, Amlakhi High School under Samaguri Revenue Circle, Mahkhuti M.E. School under Dhing Revenue Circle, Vidyarthi Jatiya Vidyalaya under Nagaon Sadar Revenue Circle, Bagariguri Primary School under Raha Revenue Circle, and Shalang Higher Secondary School under Kaliabor Revenue Circle. Field Officers of Disaster Management Authority of the respective Revenue Circles, members of the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF), officers and personnel of the Fire & Emergency Services, Sonaribari, along with teachers, staff and students of the participating schools, actively took part in the mock drill. The exercise was conducted with the objective of strengthening preparedness in schools during earthquakes and other sudden disasters, enhancing coordination among various emergency response departments, and making preventive and response mechanisms more effective.
