Jalandhar/Chandigarh: In a major push towards citizen-centric and technology-driven policing, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Wednesday launched the upgraded SAANJH Citizen Portal at the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Police Academy in Phillaur. The initiative aims to make police services faster, transparent and accessible while reducing the need for physical visits to police offices.

The revamped portal introduces 14 new digital features, including Aadhaar-enabled eKYC for police verifications, QR code-authenticated certificates, digital payment receipts, a paperless tenant verification system, improved missing mobile phone reporting, dedicated services for senior citizens and a citizen feedback mechanism for Passport Verification Officers. Punjab Police said the feedback system has already received more than 90,000 responses since February 2025.

On the occasion, DGP Gaurav Yadav also flagged off a fleet of 93 electric scooters for women police personnel deployed at Mahila Mitra units and Women Help Desks across the state. The move is expected to improve mobility and strengthen responsive policing for women-related services.

Speaking at the launch, the DGP said the new SAANJH Portal combines technology, governance reforms and citizen-first service delivery. He noted that integration with the National Digital Police repository and a unified Police Verification App would further enhance transparency, efficiency and accountability in police services.

He said the force continues to be guided by its motto, “Haq Tuhada, Farz Saada” (Your Right, Our Duty).

Punjab Police also unveiled two new SAANJH mascots, Shera and Shakti, designed to make community outreach more interactive and citizen-friendly.

Senior police and civil administration officials, including Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Dhanpreet Kaur, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Swapan Sharma, DIG Jalandhar Range Naveen Singla and Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varjeet Walia, were present at the event.
