In view of the current situation, if an intellectual like Sartre emerges from Punjab or a class that stands practically side by side with the oppressed for the freedom of the oppressed nations, is difficult, because there is no such example in known history. Baba Marri was also very disappointed in this regard. That is why he considered the politics of his nation, land and country to be fundamental and important. In the words of Baba Marri, “they (Punjab) think that our politics will only proceed under the scheme of subordination to Punjab.” But remember, if this happens, it will be the freedom of the future generations rather than the freedom of the oppressed in historical dynamics, which shall be regarded as the observance of the principles of human equality, dignity and justice by removing the burden of sovereignty and barbarism of the armed forces.
Otherwise, Punjab will always remain in the dock of history with regard to colonialism. Sartre, whom De Gaulle called France, but history never absolves France of the atrocities committed on Algeria because of Sartre. When a Marxist intellectual from Punjab was talked to in this regard, he said that there was General De Gaulle in France while there is General Musharraf here. He may have forgotten to say that General Musharraf is only an individual, whereas the building of the colonial system stands on the pillars of state institutions beyond the shoulders of an individual. And the biggest pillar of any colonial state is the army.
According to Baba Marri, “In my humble opinion, the army is for the security of a country, not a pillar, but human equality, honor and justice are considered as the pillars. “But the greatest compulsion of the colonial state is to stand firm on the strength of the army, in order to keep running the system by looting the resources of others. In fact, the military is the soul of the structure of the colonial state. They themselve assume that since the greatest sacrifice is of life, therefore, they are the owner of each and every aspect of the state. There is no one more patriotic than them, nor is there any one as intelligent as them. By sacrificing lives, their ego gets inflated. Whether it is the field of politics or war, they are the sole decision-makers.
Like a kingmaker, they can put whomever they want in politics or whoever they want to remove from politics by handing him over the certificate of treason. No one’s life, property and honor matter to them, but the mantra of their honor and dignity is taught to them every day that there is no greater dignity than yours and there is no greater honor than yours. Insulting them is considered an insult to the entire subject, and respecting them is considered respecting the entire subject. They become self-proclaimed champions from defense to political matters, for this, they find a justification for their existence by citing examples from history.
According to Baba Marri, “We will not leave this, we will not leave that. We will do this, we will do that.” Since these people are completely devoid of any intellect, they make themselves relevant with the help of emotions. Parade, national songs, films and dramas are their one and only capital. Their seniors are full of self-centeredness and pretentiousness. For which from the hired killer to the hired writer are assigned. They are very self-conscious about their fame and reputation, they not only keep beating the drum of their fame and reputation through various sources, but they also carry out surveys in order to gauge their popularity from time to time and also help open countless accounts on social media in this regard.
Their commander is bestowed with various titles which feeds his narcissistic tendencies. It is under this mentality that these people are thriving. They rule at gunpoint from political science to economics and from coast to resources, and they always have the final say on political matters by force. Similarly, this holy cow has not only cleverly worn the cloak of religion but has promoted religiosity to the lower level, so that it can justify its barbaric acts by creating a religious mind.
By stirring up Hindu-Muslim contradictions, it considers itself the army of the Islamic world. It also dreams of conquering India by quoting Ghazwa-e-Hind and distorting various references. Ordinary Muslims always see it dressed in the garb of religion and worship it. But they forget that this holy cow also attacked Baitul Muqaddas in history, this holy cow sometimes becomes the heir of the mujahideen, sometimes it increases its cannon,
tank and gunpowder by selling off the same mujahideen in exchange for dollars. By playing the dollar and riyal game in the name of religion, it is actually guarding imperialism. It is systematically using religion as a weapon for the Baloch genocide. It is injecting religious extremism into the Baloch society in order to counter the Baloch national resistance. For this purpose, huge mafias, Lashkars in the guise of a private army, namely Mussila Difa Council are raised. From the leader to the armed people, not only salaries are fixed regularly, but from kidnapping for ransom to drugs, smuggling and murder have been given free hand. These mafias are openly committing terrorism in the name of religion and Pakistaniness in Balochistan.
Even mass cemeteries have been settled by systematic genocide of the Baloch nation. The sacred cow combines its sanctity with religion and becomes a frightening holy bull, as if rebelling against them is rebelling against Islam, and their punishment is death like an apostate. When they mutilate the dead bodies and dump them in the wilderness, they are thinking that they are serving Pakistan as well as Islam. In the same vein, according to Baba Marri, bodies of the Baloch are being thrown down through helicopters. Independent states have an army, but in colonial states, economy, politics, land and religion belong to the army. In order to maintain this colonial state and to maintain control over the coast and resources of the Baloch nation, the importance of the army remains in addition to religion, in the so-called democratic institutions, judiciary and parliament.
According to Baba Marri, not only are they “going to legitimize their dictatorship”, but the economy and the business of politics are running under this garb. In the words of Nawab Marri, “The story of hypocrisy is very long, ideologically it is a great sin, weakness or ignorance to call vote casting a democracy subject to military dictatorship.” In this long story of hypocrisy, Baba Marri quotes history on the nexus of the army and the economy as follows: “There were or still are armies in the world that learn the art of increasing their economy and financial strength by looting others, then bring experts and scholars from outside to develop some part of the economy.”
In fact, one should learn the skill of building cantonments in the name of development from them. Baba Marri’s question is, “We ask why you are building cantonments in Balochistan, against the Indian army, or against the Iranian army. Or against those who say that this is our motherland, whose oil these cantonments are being built to take away?” Today, Gwadar is the best example of this, which is being fenced from all sides and the indigenous people are being evicted like Red Indians.
One of the characteristics of the colonial state in today’s world is that fencing takes the form of an industry. The occupier has not only erected visible and invisible fences around Gwadar, but also in the entire motherland where it has made fronts is being fenced. Even the fencing of artificial borders from McMahon to the Goldsmith Line continues. In the same way, the civil society of the occupier is erecting an invisible fence on the minds. According to Baba Marri, the issue of Gwadar is “of global imperialist dominance and interests”. The deployment of large tanks, cannons and establishments of check posts are living images of these imperialist dominance and interests who occupy the coasts, resources and land of the Baloch.
With these costs and resources, not only do they fill their stomachs and bank accounts, but they are also running the business of politics. Democracy, the constitution, the judiciary and the law are no more than concubines in front of them.
Now, if the Baloch hold the reins of this concubine and propagate nationalism in the name of democratic supremacy, civil supremacy, or even more so, beg for justice for the missing persons from the institutions of the same colonial state or in the name of victimhood, then it needs to be understood that from this narrative, as per Baba Marri, “Is he not keeping the Baloch away from the Baloch in the name of Balochism?”
