Vocational and Samagra Shiksha educators to see sharp salary increase; CM Rekha Gupta calls it recognition of their commitment

New Delhi: The Government of Delhi has approved a significant pay rise for vocational teachers and those working under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, in a move aimed at strengthening the capital’s education system and improving teacher morale.

Announcing the decision following a Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said vocational teachers will now receive ₹38,100 per month, up from the earlier ₹20,000–₹23,000 range. Meanwhile, teachers working across 784 centres under Samagra Shiksha will see their salaries rise from ₹21,000 to ₹35,420 per month.

The hike will benefit around 1,131 vocational teachers engaged in skill-based training across multiple disciplines, as well as educators at Special Training Centres that focus on reintegrating out-of-school children into mainstream education.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the decision goes beyond financial relief. “This is not just a monetary measure, but a recognition of the dedication and hard work of teachers operating in challenging environments,” she said, adding that the revised pay brings Samagra Shiksha teachers on par with primary and upper primary educators.

Highlighting the broader objective, Ms Gupta reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring universal access to education in the national capital. She described Special Training Centres as a “lifeline” for children who have either dropped out or never attended school, stressing that bringing them back into the system remains a top priority.

The government also underlined ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of these centres through regular monitoring, parental counselling and improved inter-departmental coordination.

With the pay revision, the administration aims to improve financial stability for teachers, boost motivation and ultimately raise the standard of education delivery across Delhi.
