Bangladesh Hindu Man Lynched Today News: Amrit Mondal, who is also known as Samrat, was beaten to death by a mob around 11pm on Wednesday at Hosendanga village of Kalimohor union, ASP said.

Bangladesh Unrest: A man identified as Amrit Mondal was beaten to death by a mob in Bangladesh’s Rajbari district late on Wednesday night allegedly after he tried to extort money, police said. This comes days after a group allegedly beat Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu man, to death in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, in Bangladesh, after accusing him of blasphemy.

Bangladesh is currently facing an unrest after student leader Osman Hadi was shot dead by assailants. The country saw massive protests just months ahead of national polls scheduled for February 2026.

Amrit Mondal, who is also known as Samrat, was beaten to death by a mob around 11pm on Wednesday at Hosendanga village of Kalimohor union, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Pangsha Circle) Debrata Sarkar said, Daily Star reported. Mondal lived in the same village where the incident took place.

Police made an arrest during the incident and one of Mondal’s associates, identified as Mohammad Selim, was taken into custody. Authorities also recovered two firearms from his possession.

Detailing the incident, ASP Sarkar said that upon receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and rescued Mondal in a critical condition. He was immediately taken to Pangsha Upazila Health Complex but the doctors declared him dead around 2am.

ASP added that a pistol and a shooter gun was recovered from Selim who was taken into custody. Mondal’s body, after being declared dead, was sent for a postmortem to Rajbari Sadar Hospital.

However, ASP Sarkar said that two cases were filed against Mondal with Pangsha Police Station, which includes a murder case. Daily Star, quoting locals, stated that Mondal had formed a criminal gang and was involved in extortion and other criminal activities.

Mondal was reportedly hiding in India and recently returned home after a long time and started demanding extortion money from one of the villagers.

WHY DIPU CHANDRA DAS WAS KILLED

The incident comes after Dipu Chandra Das, who was working at a local garment factory in Bangladesh, was beaten to death on allegations of blasphemy.

“On Thursday around 9 PM, an enraged crowd caught him and beat him to death, accusing him of making derogatory remarks about the Prophet. They then set the body on fire,” police told BBC Bangla.
