President Zelenskyy also met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London on Monday and discussed the 28-point peace plan.

The European leaders, including European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa have said on Monday that Ukraine’s sovereignty must be respected and its security must be guaranteed for the long term in any peace deal being signed with Russia to end a nearly four year old war in Kyiv, Reuters reported.

A similar message was posted by the two European Union institution chiefs on social media after meeting Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in Brussels. “Ukraine’s sovereignty must be respected. Ukraine’s security must be guaranteed, in the long term, as a first line of defence for our Union,” the post read.

President Zelenskyy also met UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in London on Monday and discussed the 28-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, its latest version and the earlier three days meeting held between US and Ukrainian officials in Miami last week.

Ukraine continues to face Russia’s aggression with exceptional courage.

European leaders, in a unanimous agreement, said that “now is a critical moment” to build up a support base for Ukraine and put pressure on Russia in order to end the war in Kyiv. The European leaders said that more work and pressure tactics are required to ensure security guarantee for Ukraine as Washington continues to put pressure on Kyiv to sign a peace deal with Moscow.

As peace talks are ongoing, the EU remains ironclad in its support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy, who travelled to Europe to meet NATO officials and European leaders on Monday, said that Ukraine would share a revised plan with the United States on Tuesday. Last week, Ukrainian officials pushed for certain changes in the peace deal during a meeting with the negotiating team of the US as the plan is reportedly considered to be favouring Russia.

During an interaction with reporters on Monday, Zelenskyy said that the “most certainly anti-Ukrainian points have been removed” from the peace deal proposed in November. “Americans are inclined, in principle, to finding a compromise,” the Ukrainian president said, BBC reported.
