Two-day festival at Central Park promotes cultural heritage, unity and festive spirit; Delhi’s first Namo Yamuna River Safari to open on November 10

New Delhi: The second day of the Delhi Government’s grand two-day Diwali celebration, ‘Dilli Ki Diwali – Sabse Nirali, Milkar Manane Wali’, witnessed a massive public turnout at Central Park, Connaught Place, as residents gathered with their families and friends to celebrate the festival of lights. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra also attended the celebrations, adding to the festive enthusiasm.

Extending Diwali greetings to the people of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wished everyone happiness, prosperity and well-being. She said ‘Dilli Ki Diwali’ reflects the capital’s rich culture, traditions and spirit of collective celebration.

She noted that the large public participation for the second consecutive day demonstrated the enthusiasm of Delhiites to celebrate the festival together. The Delhi Government is committed to organising festivals across the capital with grandeur, cleanliness and enthusiasm, she added.

Describing Diwali as a festival that conveys the message of love, brotherhood, positivity and unity, the Chief Minister said the government was working to take Delhi to new heights of development and ensure happiness and prosperity for every resident. She also expressed confidence that people would collectively contribute towards making the capital clean, beautiful and developed.

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said the Delhi Government was organising ‘Dilli Ki Diwali’ on a grand scale for the second consecutive year under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. He recalled that last year, a historic Diwali celebration was organised at Kartavya Path, where 1.5 lakh diyas were lit. This year, Central Park in Connaught Place was selected for a grand two-day celebration.

Mishra said Connaught Place, regarded as the heart of Delhi, had witnessed attempts to create an atmosphere of negativity among traders, affecting business activities in markets and shops. The government therefore decided to organise the Diwali celebrations at the iconic location to promote positivity, happiness and public participation.

He added that the government was committed to preserving Delhi’s cultural and religious identity while developing the capital as the country’s cultural centre. He also said there were now no restrictions on performing Chhath Puja on the Yamuna in Delhi.

Announcing another major tourism initiative, Mishra informed that Delhi’s first ‘Namo Yamuna River Safari’ would open to the general public from November 10. The initiative will offer residents and tourists an opportunity to enjoy river cruises, experience the natural beauty of the Yamuna and explore entertainment zones being developed along its banks.

The celebrations at Central Park featured cultural performances, music and a range of Diwali-themed activities. The two-day event brought residents together to share the festive spirit while showcasing Delhi’s cultural identity and traditions.
