NEW DELHI: In a humanitarian initiative spanning international borders, senior BJP leader Dr Vijay Jolly has taken up the case of Deepak Wadhwa, an India-born man who passed away in London on October 21, 2026, seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to facilitate the return of his mortal remains to India.

Dr Vijay Jolly, former MLA from Saket, Delhi, and former Convenor of the BJP Foreign Affairs Cell, formally wrote to the Prime Minister requesting urgent assistance so that Deepak Wadhwa’s family could perform his last rites in India in accordance with Hindu traditions.
Responding to Dr Jolly’s appeal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed prompt action within 24 hours. The repatriation process has now commenced, with the necessary No Objection Certificate (NOC) formalities underway.
Dr Jolly also spoke with Deepak Wadhwa’s wife, who expressed her gratitude for the intervention and assistance in facilitating the process during this difficult time.
Acknowledging the Prime Minister’s timely response, Dr Jolly credited his directions for making the humanitarian initiative possible.
The development underscores the importance of compassion, dignity and support for Indian families beyond geographical boundaries, particularly when they face the loss of a loved one abroad and wish to perform the final rites in their homeland.
