Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with discussions covering trade, investment, agriculture, technology and regional stability during a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office said on Sunday that the meeting focused on bilateral cooperation and regional developments, with both sides reviewing progress in their longstanding strategic partnership.
Dar welcomed continued cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), alongside efforts to improve regional connectivity, expand trade and investment, modernise agriculture and promote people-to-people exchanges.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining regular high-level dialogue and engagement to advance the vision of a “Pakistan-China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era”.
The two sides exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting lasting peace and stability.
The meeting comes as Pakistan and China mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. Both countries have reiterated their resolve to deepen their strategic partnership and broaden cooperation across key sectors.
The next phase of CPEC is expected to place greater emphasis on industrial development, agricultural modernisation, technological cooperation and improved connectivity. These areas are intended to strengthen economic links and create further opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
