New Delhi, October 4: The Delhi BJP on Sunday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its Communist allies of attempting to vitiate the political atmosphere in the national capital and disrupt law and order through protests at Jantar Mantar.
Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that the faces seen around Jantar Mantar two or three times a day were the same people who had been present during the CJP movement in July.
Kapoor claimed that the AAP and its Communist allies were unable to mobilise even 50 people from Delhi. He alleged that videos from the previous day showed one or two buses being brought in daily from Punjab, while students associated with Communist ideology at Jawaharlal Nehru University were also participating and raising what he described as objectionable and uncivilised anti-government slogans.
The BJP spokesperson also criticised the posting of a video on X showing AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj being removed from the protest site, calling it “laughable”.
Kapoor said it was regrettable that AAP leaders, whom he described as having been rejected by Delhi voters, were protesting in the name of the right to vote alongside the Congress, which he accused of imposing the Emergency and curtailing the fundamental rights of citizens.
He questioned whether AAP and Communist leaders expected the police to allow them to act arbitrarily while disrupting law and order in Delhi.
The Delhi BJP spokesperson said that a handful of people associated with Communist ideology were attempting to disturb the political environment in the capital.
