New Delhi, September 17, 2026: Thousands of earthen lamps, or “Ashirwad Ke Diye”, illuminated the historic premises of the Delhi Legislative Assembly on Thursday to mark the 76th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The special illumination programme was organised as a mark of honour and respect for the Prime Minister. Senior officials of the Delhi Assembly Secretariat also participated in the programme, as the historic Assembly complex glowed with the warm light of thousands of diyas.
The occasion also served as a tribute to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and public service. The “Ashirwad Ke Diye” symbolised collective good wishes and appreciation for his contribution towards the nation’s development, progress and transformation, according to the Delhi Legislative Assembly Secretariat.
The programme highlighted the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’, with the country aspiring to achieve new milestones in infrastructure, technology, innovation, economic growth and social development.
The lighting of the diyas conveyed a message of hope, aspiration and collective resolve towards building a developed India, while celebrating the vision of a confident, progressive and self-reliant Bharat.
The historic Assembly premises, illuminated by thousands of lamps, provided an auspicious setting for the birthday celebrations and reflected the spirit of India’s journey towards a stronger, more prosperous and self-reliant nation.
