The District AIDS Control Office, Tinsukia, Assam in collaboration with the District Health Society, Tinsukia, and with the support of the Assam State AIDS Control Society, Government of Assam, launched the 60-Day Intensified IEC Campaign on HIV/AIDS on September 11, 2026, at the Tinsukia College Auditorium, Tinsukia. The campaign was formally launched by Dr. Mondira Baruah, Additional District Commissioner, Tinsukia. As part of the programme, the IEC awareness van was also flagged off to carry HIV/AIDS awareness messages to communities across the district. The campaign aims to intensify Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities on HIV/AIDS, with a focus on HIV prevention, modes of transmission, testing, treatment, care and support services. It will also address misconceptions and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS and encourage individuals to adopt healthy and responsible practices. During the 60-day campaign, a series of awareness and community outreach activities will be undertaken across the district in coordination with health institutions, educational institutions, frontline health workers, community organisations, NGOs and other stakeholders. The campaign will emphasise the importance of accurate information, early HIV testing, timely treatment and creating a supportive and stigma-free environment for people living with HIV. Representatives and participants from various NGOs and community-based organisations, including Bhagyalaxmi, GUIDE-TI and Care India Foundation, actively participated in the programme and awareness rally organised as part of the campaign. The District AIDS Control Office appealed to community leaders, educational institutions, youth groups, civil society organisations, NGOs and members of the public to actively participate in the campaign and extend their cooperation towards its successful implementation. The campaign carries the message:
“A Healthier Community, A Stronger Tomorrow.”
Through collective efforts, the district administration and health authorities seek to build an informed, inclusive and empowered society free from HIV-related stigma and discrimination.
