London: The Republic of Balochistan has rejected Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s alleged narrative linking Balochistan with terrorism, asserting that Balochistan itself is facing what it describes as state terrorism and military operations by Pakistan.
In a statement issued in response to the Punjab Chief Minister’s remarks, the Republic of Balochistan said Punjab faced no terrorism threat from Balochistan and accused Pakistan’s military establishment of conducting operations in the region while exploiting its natural resources.
The statement further called on Pakistan’s military to immediately withdraw from Balochistan, describing its presence as an “illegal occupation” and alleging that the region’s resources had been used for the development of cities in Punjab while Baloch communities continued to face deprivation and inadequate basic facilities.
The Republic of Balochistan also highlighted Maryam Nawaz’s reported assertion that Punjab faces no threat from India and Afghanistan. It argued that the statement raises questions over Pakistan’s longstanding justification for maintaining nuclear weapons on the grounds of a perceived threat from India.
The organisation further claimed that the remarks strengthen its position that Balochistan’s independence struggle cannot continue to be denied. It maintained that, despite lacking the heavy military hardware and large standing army possessed by Pakistan, the people of Balochistan remain determined to defend their homeland.
The Republic of Balochistan urged the international community to take the developments seriously and reiterated its demand for an end to Pakistan’s military presence in the region.
