London: The Republic of Balochistan has voiced “grave concern” over recent defence agreements involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, warning that enhanced military cooperation could have direct consequences for Balochistan amid the ongoing conflict in the region.
In a statement dated August 28, the Republic of Balochistan referred particularly to the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed on September 17, 2025, and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement involving Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan signed on August 7, 2026.
According to the statement, the 2025 Saudi-Pakistan agreement provides that aggression against either country would be regarded as aggression against both, while the Makkah agreement extends a similar principle among the three countries and seeks to strengthen defence cooperation.
The Republic of Balochistan urged Riyadh and Ankara to respect what it described as Balochistan’s territory, maritime boundaries, airspace, independence and sovereignty. It called on states to avoid defence arrangements that could provide Pakistan with additional military capabilities, resources or political support for operations in Balochistan.
The statement specifically appealed against the provision of drones, surveillance and warfare technology, missile systems, fighter aircraft, weapons and other military equipment, as well as economic assistance that could strengthen Pakistan’s military capabilities.
The Republic of Balochistan further warned that if military or financial assistance supplied by another country were used in operations against Baloch civilians, the supplying country would, in its view, face political, moral and legal consequences.
Appeal to Saudi Arabia
The statement also highlighted what it described as longstanding historical and fraternal links between the Baloch people and Saudi Arabia. It cited historical relations during the era of Khan of Kalat Mir Ahmad Yar Khan and claimed that in 1932 he met the Saudi royal family and provided US$100,000 in assistance for mosques.
Against this historical backdrop, the Republic of Balochistan appealed to the Saudi leadership, the Royal Family and the Saudi people to reassess the potential impact of Riyadh’s defence relationship with Pakistan on Balochistan.
It urged Saudi Arabia to ensure that defence, financial or technical assistance to Islamabad does not contribute to military operations in Balochistan and called for restraint in weapons supplies and military cooperation that could increase Pakistan’s operational capabilities there.
Warning to Türkiye and China
The statement also issued a warning to Türkiye and China, urging both countries to consider the consequences of supplying Pakistan with advanced fighter aircraft, drones, missiles, air-defence systems, surveillance technology and other military equipment.
It expressed particular concern over China’s defence cooperation with Pakistan and Türkiye’s expanding defence relationship with Islamabad, alleging that advanced military technology supplied to Pakistan was being used against Baloch civilians.
The Republic of Balochistan called on both countries to make their defence exports and military cooperation conditional on assurances that supplied technology would not be used against Baloch civilians or in Balochistan.
Concluding its statement, the Republic of Balochistan said it did not seek hostility towards any state but maintained that it would not surrender what it described as its right to defend its territory, independence and people.
