Mumbai: As Balochistan marks August 11 as its Independence Day, Ambassador of World Peace United Dr Parvinder Singh has called for the people of the region to be allowed to celebrate their freedom, describing the move as a potential “step towards world peace”.

In a video statement, Dr Singh said that when the British left India in 1947, neither Pakistan nor Bangladesh existed in their present forms, while Balochistan, according to him, existed and declared independence from British rule on August 11, 1947.

“If the people of Balochistan wish to celebrate their independence and freedom, they should be permitted to do so, and it should be viewed as a step towards world peace,” he said.

Highlighting Balochistan’s mineral and natural-resource wealth, including gold and precious stones, Dr Singh claimed that Pakistan could face a major economic setback if the region were to separate, as Balochistan is a key source of mineral exports to China and other countries.

“Losing Balochistan would be a massive setback for Pakistan, which is precisely why Pakistan refuses to lose control over it,” he said.

Dr Singh further claimed that more than 56 countries support Balochistan’s independence, and stressed that the 21st century should move away from conflict and the use of force.

“We are living in the 21st century, an era where conflict and force no longer yield results,” he added.
