NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Vyapar Mahotsav 2026 (BVM 2026), billed as a major showcase of India’s economic strength, entrepreneurship and global ambitions, will bring together Indian manufacturers, traders, startups, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, artisans and service providers on a single platform.
Jointly organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), the four-day Mahotsav will be inaugurated by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on August 12 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and CAIT Strategic Advisor Smriti Irani are also scheduled to grace the inauguration. Several Union ministers, senior government officials, industry leaders and international trade delegations are expected to participate.
CAIT Secretary General and Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal said BVM 2026 was aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vocal for Local”, “Local to Global” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. He described the event as a landmark initiative aimed at giving Indian enterprises greater access to domestic and international buyers.
More than 700 exhibitors from across India are expected to participate, while lakhs of business visitors, institutional buyers, entrepreneurs and industry representatives are likely to attend. Buyers and trade delegations from more than 40 countries are also expected, giving the event a global business dimension.
The Mahotsav will feature Buyer-Seller Meets, B2B and B2G networking sessions, export promotion dialogues, investment discussions, startup showcases, technology demonstrations and sector-specific panel discussions.
The exhibition will bring together India’s traditional strengths and emerging economic capabilities. GI-tagged products, handicrafts, handlooms, rural enterprises and traditional industries will showcase the country’s cultural and artisanal heritage, while digital commerce, fintech, artificial intelligence, logistics, green technologies and advanced manufacturing will highlight India’s technological and innovation capabilities.
Two special attractions will focus on inclusive entrepreneurship — the “Ability Expo”, dedicated to entrepreneurs with disabilities, and the “Nari Vandan Pavilion”, showcasing women-led enterprises. A Startup Hub will also feature emerging innovations and technologies.
According to Khandelwal, BVM 2026 is intended to go beyond being a conventional trade exhibition and act as a catalyst for domestic and international commerce. The event is expected to facilitate new business partnerships, strengthen supply chains, expand market access, encourage import substitution and boost exports, particularly benefiting MSMEs and small businesses.
The Mahotsav will also seek to connect Indian enterprises with global value chains and support India’s emergence as a major manufacturing and export hub. Increased activity in trade, investment, tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics and services is expected to generate wider economic opportunities and contribute to employment.
Khandelwal said the Mahotsav would present India’s entrepreneurial capabilities, innovation and enterprise to the world while reinforcing the country’s journey towards becoming a developed nation and a global economic powerhouse.
