NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta received an enthusiastic welcome from a large gathering of women at the Delhi Assembly ahead of the Monsoon Session, with women felicitating her with flower garlands and expressing gratitude for the implementation of the Delhi Laxmi Yojana.

Amid drumbeats and celebrations, the women described the scheme as a historic initiative aimed at strengthening women’s dignity, self-reliance and economic empowerment in Delhi.

Accepting the greetings, Gupta said her government remained committed to the social, economic and educational empowerment of women. She described the Delhi Laxmi Yojana as more than a financial assistance programme, saying it was designed to help women move forward with greater dignity, security and self-reliance.

The Chief Minister said the government was working to ensure that every eligible woman received the scheme’s benefits through a transparent, simple and time-bound process. She added that officials had been directed to ensure a smooth application process so that eligible beneficiaries did not face inconvenience.

Gupta said the support and confidence expressed by women were a source of inspiration for her government. She reiterated that the Delhi Government would continue to introduce welfare initiatives focused on women’s dignity, safety, education and economic empowerment.
