Arunodoi a Model for Women’s Socio-Economic Security and Financial Empowerment :: Neog.

Pankaj Nath, Assam , August 1: Assam’s Minister for Women and Child Development and Tourism and Guardian Minister of Kamrup district, Ajanta Neog, on Friday attended the launch of Arunodoi 3.0 at 82 No. Bongshar Gaon Panchayat under the Sualkuchi Development Block in Kamrup district. The programme was held simultaneously with the State-level launch at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, where Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma formally launched the flagship scheme. Similar programmes were organised at more than 3,500 locations across Assam. Addressing the gathering, Neog said the State Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has been consistently working towards building a stronger Assam through the economic empowerment of women. She described Arunodoi 3.0 as a landmark initiative that has emerged as a successful model for ensuring the socio-economic security of women, not only in Assam but across the country.
The Minister said the scheme has played a transformative role in making women financially self-reliant. She added that with the launch of Arunodoi 3.0, financial assistance under the enhanced scheme has begun reaching eligible women beneficiaries from the very first allocation of the 2026–27 State Budget.
Emphasising that a financially empowered woman contributes to a stronger society, Neog said the Government has introduced a provision for advance financial assistance for beneficiaries under the scheme. Referring to the hardships faced by many families due to microfinance loans in the past, she said the Government has also made arrangements for providing small loans under the Arunodoi Scheme to ensure that beneficiaries do not fall into debt. She further stated that beneficiaries under the scheme in the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat and Jorhat have been provided with a special financial assistance of ₹2,500 each. Among those present at the programme were Hajo-Sualkuchi MLA Prakash Chandra Das, Kamrup District Commissioner Deba Kumar Mishra, representatives of the Zila Parishad and several other dignitaries. Earlier in the day, the Minister inaugurated the 15 No. Pub Fulbari Pahar Anganwadi Centre under the Sualkuchi Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Project in Kamrup district.
