New Delhi: Union Minister of State and Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra on Friday welcomed the court’s decision sentencing Tahir Hussain to life imprisonment, calling the verdict a significant affirmation of justice in the 2020 East Delhi riots case.
Reacting to the judgment, Malhotra said the ruling had “exposed the true face of the Aam Aadmi Party” and established that AAP-backed miscreants were responsible for instigating violence in East Delhi and for the brutal killing of Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma.
He asserted that the judgment had separated “fact from fiction” and claimed it revealed the role of individuals associated with the party during the riots.
Malhotra also criticised AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that he had provided political protection to those accused in the case. He said the party should be held accountable for its actions and questioned its political conduct.
The BJP leader further referred to a recent incident involving individuals allegedly linked to the Aam Aadmi Party attempting to enter Parliament premises, saying it reflected the party’s functioning and political culture.
Claiming that public confidence in the Aam Aadmi Party has declined, Malhotra said Delhi voters had already rejected the party and asserted that the people of Punjab were also preparing for political change.
He described the court’s verdict as an important milestone in delivering justice and reaffirming accountability under the rule of law.
